Polaris Parkway SR 750
This project included milling 1.5” of existing asphalt off 1.4 miles of State Route 750 (Polaris Parkway) and resurfacing with 1.5” of hot mix asphalt. The 8,500 tons of 446 Type 1H, PG 70-22M asphalt was produced by Kokosing Materials at their plant in Columbus. The milling and paving crew also planned their work to minimize the number of transverse joints and to provide the best possible transitions at the intersections. A Roadtec 230 Paver was used for the mainline paving in conjunction with an MS4 producing a very consistent, smooth mat. Although the completion date was June 30th, 2011, Kokosing completed the project in the 2010 season far ahead of schedule.
All work was performed during nightime restricted hours producing less of an impact to the traveling public. Kokosing stressed safety on the project due to the nightime hours during the nightly MAP meetings. All emloyees were required to wear full body Type 3 Reflective Clothing including flashing beacons on their hardhats. Law Enforcement Officers were used at all intersections to help maintian traffic safely. There were ZERO incidents on this project allowing everyone to go home safely as expected.
