HNCC Facility Improvements

This project included the construction of a new Coke Quench and Wharf along with associated conveyors, transfer towers, and screening facility.  All of these improvements were constructed to accommodate the 100 Coke Ovens built on the Haverhill Phase II project.  One of the unique challenges of this project was working within the operating plant and coordinating construction with the plant's operations staff.  This coordination resulted in the construction of an auger cast piling wall rather than a conventional sheet piling wall, which provided the required excavation shoring while limiting vibrations that would be potentially devastating to the nearby operating ovens.  Daily coordination with the operations staff was also required to successfully interconnect the coke product conveyers providing for redundancy in the screening system.
