Miami County I-75

Awarded the largest ODOT design/build project to date, Kokosing utilized innovative procedures to provide a successful project that was safe for both the traveling public and jobsite workers. The $45.5-million project entailed the complete reconstruction of I-75. The 8-mile-long project included the addition of one northbound and southbound lane; construction of 11 bridges; and installation of MSE walls, roadway drainage, 500,000 square yards of concrete pavement and 340,000 square feet of noise wall.

In self-performing the project’s concrete work, Kokosing set up a conveyor system from its batch plant located adjacent the interstate’s right of way to transport concrete from the plant to the road median. This helped minimize disruption of traffic and provided a safer work zone.
