Wright Patterson Air Force Base West Ramp
In this design/build reconstruction of Wright Patterson Air Force Base’s West Ramp, Kokosing provided the U.S. Air Force with a new 3,000-foot by 520-foot concrete apron and fuel supply system.
Kokosing removed existing concrete pavement, placed a 6-inch cement-treated free-drainage base and topped it with a 16-inch portland cement concrete-pavement course. In all, more than 185,000 square yards of concrete pavement was installed by Kokosing’s Concrete Paving Group, of which 115,000 cubic yards of concrete and cement-treated drainage base were produced by one of the company’s Erie Strayer concrete plants.
Value-engineering by Kokosing reduced the $20.8-million five-phase project into two phases, which resulted in finishing the job ahead of schedule.
