Nelsonville Bypass Phase 1
Location: Nelsonville, Ohio
Project Owner: The Ohio Department of Transportation
Bid Amount: $22,171,746.00
This grade and drain project encompasses the first of three phases to complete a bypass of US Route 33 around Nelsonville. Approximately 1.8 miles of roadway are being constructed by excavating over 3.5 million cubic yards of dirt and rock and building 1.9 million cubic yards of embankment. Kokosing has used our extensive fleet of Cat 777 rock trucks along with a Komatsu PC2000 excavator to ensure that the project schedule is maintained.
One unique challenge on this project is the presence of voids in the existing ground created by underground coal mines. This project also includes the construction of 11,000 linear feet of storm sewers including 120” diameter culverts and a 20’x10’ box culvert.
