Construction of Cofferdams for the Proposed New Lock

Kokosing’s Durocher Marine Division constructed two 88 FT diameter steel sheet pile cofferdams at the approaches to the existing Sabin Lock located in Sault Saint Marie, Michigan.  Excavation of 3,770 CY of rock dredging was required to reach the required m channel and sheeting depths.   The cells were filled with 28,000 TN of crushed stone.  This was the first contract for the new replacement lock, it is to be the same size as the existing Poe Lock.
