I-70/75 Interchange
The $37.5-million interchange features a 2,400-foot-long bridge that carries northbound traffic on I-75 to I-70 westbound over both interstates and three ramps. Kokosing erected approximately 4-million pounds of curved-plate girders and assembled approximately 1,600 cross frames and 31,000 splice bolts in construction of the 20-span bridge.
Maintenance of traffic was an important element on the project, as much of the steel girder erection was performed at night to maintain daytime traffic flow.
The interchange project spotlighted Kokosing’s ironworkers and company-owned equipment, as all of the project’s erection work was self-performed.
