North Union Sewer

Kokosing installed 2.3 miles of utility lines for a sanitary sewer project for Sanitation District 1 in Northern Kentucky’s Boone County. The project along Fowler Creek required placement of 12,520 feet of 36-inch-diameter pipe and 1,450 feet of 12-inch-diameter pipe. Using an open-cut method, Kokosing’s work was made more challenging by having to use mechanical and blasting methods to install 36-inch pipe in shale and limestone at depths of 30 feet. The project also called for careful maneuvering around 58 manholes and 11 creek crossings.

Because Fowler Creek was susceptible to flooding and washouts, Kokosing’s project management team engineered an installation system that met permitting requirements and minimized environmental damage in order to prevent project delays to the $4 million project.
