Kirtland Pump Station Rehabilitation Project received the 2011 AGC Build Ohio Award in the Industrial/Heavy Catagory.
2010 Awards
2010 Build Ohio Award 
Associated General Contractors of Ohio (AGC) recognized Kokosing as the winner of the Industrial/Heavy Build Ohio 2010 Award for the Main Street Bridge Project. The Build Ohio Winners are based on the following criteria: excellence in client service, meeting the challenge of a difficult job, excellence in project management, and innovations in construction techniques and materials. The Main Street Bridge is a three span inclined arch bridge measuring 675 feet in total length wit a 400 foot center span. This single rib tied arch makes it the first of this kind in the United States and one of only five in the world.

OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program Star Mobile Workforce Status – There are only 42 Heavy Construction Companies in the country participating in VPP and only 12 have achieved Star status. The VPP program is a cooperative program between OSHA, the Labor Unions, and the Employer where everyone works together to meet a stringent safety and health management system requirements and continues to achieve incident results far better than the national average.

Kokosing received this award for outstanding safety performance in the Heavy Division, Over 1 Million Work Hours.

2008 Fleet Masters Award
Kokosing Maintenance Division received the 2008 Fleet Masters Award for top Maintenance Division for a private fleet in the country. The Association of Equipment Management Professionals (AEMP) presented the Fleet Masters Award to recognize equipment professionals who excel in meeting the unique challenges inherent to delivering cost effective management of mixed fleets of on road and off road equipment.
2008 Engineering Excellence Award
Kokosing was the design build contractor on the Upper Olentangy Water Reclamation Center project for the City of Delaware. This project received the prestigious 2008 Engineering Excellence Award for the American Council of Engineering Companies. This project earned the distinction as the first large-scale design build municipal wastewater treatment project in Ohio.
2008 Move Ohio Award
Kokosing received a Move Ohio Award from the Ohio Contractors Association, for its work at the Haverhill North Coke Company in Haverhill. Kokosing won for best construction practices in the over $20 million category, in constructing Phase II of the Haverhill North Coke project for Tennessee-based SunCoke Energy Inc. Phase 2 included 100 coke ovens, five heat recovery steam generators, a flue gas desulphurization system and a 64-megawatt steam turbine generator.

Rocky River WWTP Overflow was awarded the Job of the Year Award at the annual COPP Licensees’ meeting. This award was nominated by Kokosing’s material suppliers for the most challenging and innovative project completed by all of the CIPP Licensees.

Kokosing was presented the 2007 Ohio Construction Safety Excellent Award (CSEA) for the Heavy Division from the Associated General Contractors of Ohio. The AGC looks at the overall safety and health programs, management and employees’ commitment to safety, excellent safety record, training programs, and innovative safety practices. The award was accepted by superintendent, Jeff Cunningham, and foreman, Don Kennedy.
Dean’s Meritorious Service to Students Award
Brian Burgett received one of the Dean’s Meritorious Service to Students Award from Ohio State University. This award recognizes an individual outside the Ohio State community for his/her exemplary service to students of the College of Engineering or Knowlton School of Architecture.
Willis/Construction Safety Excellence Award
(CSEA)- Best of the Best- Grand Award
Kokosing received the National Associated General Contractor (AGC) “Best of the Best” Willis/Construction Safety Excellence Award (CSEA) for 2007. Kokosing was selected from 16 first place divisional winners to receive the Grand Award.
National AGC Willis Construction First Place – Heavy Division
Kokosing was awarded First Place in the Heavy Division category of the Construction Safety Excellence Awards.
Ohio Construction Safety Excellent Award (CSEA)
Kokosing was presented the Ohio Construction Safety Excellent Award (CSEA) for the Heavy Division over one million work hours from Associated General Contractors of Ohio.
Move Ohio Award – Bliss Run Relief Trunk Sewer
The Ohio Contractors Association recognized five heavy/highway projects who demonstrate excellence in construction activities, timely completion, and quality of work each year. In 2007, Kokosing received the Move Ohio Award. for the Bliss Run Relief Trunk Sewer project in Bexley, Ohio.
Move Ohio Award – Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant Grit Removal Facility
Kokosing received the prestigious Move Ohio Award for the Jackson Pike Wastewater Treatment Plant Grit Removal Facility in Columbus, Ohio. This $11.5 million improvement project included a new grit removal facility and replacement of influent screens, conveyor systems, and the grit removal system.
On The Job Training Award
Kokosing was recognized by ODOT for their participation in the On-the-Job Training program. Training and upgrading of minorities and women toward journey person status is the primary objective of the training. The program encourages contractors’ voluntary commitment to individual trainees. This On-the-Job training program helps in building a diversified, qualified, well-trained and reliable workforce.
