From driveways to highways, Kokosing’s Asphalt Division is known for quality materials, crews and processes. Our expertise ranges from smaller commercial, private-sector work, that may require 1,000 tons of hot mix asphalt, to three- and four-lane new and reconstruction projects that require a half-million tons of warranty pavement. We work with counties, cities, municipalities, turnpike agencies, airports – large and small – and even race track owners.
Seeing a need to complement its own highway and utility work, Kokosing began self-performing the asphalt portion of its jobs by going into the asphalt business in the early 1980s. That initial startup – which included one mill crew, two asphalt plants and two paving crews – has developed into a nationally acclaimed operation. Today, Kokosing’s 16 asphalt plants annually produce 1.2-million to 1.5-million tons of asphalt for its company crews and nearly 1-million tons of HMA for outside sales.
