UTILITY DIVISION

The smallest of all divisions, the Utility Division serves as a foundation of the diversification at Kokosing.  Kokosing began self performing water and sewer installation in the mid 1960’s.  Our reputation was established as a quality utility contractor who looked at a new challenge as an opportunity to grow and improve.  No project is too tough.  The ability to self perform utility work complemented the growth of the other divisions within Kokosing, thus allowing greater opportunities to meet the customer’s needs.  The skill and experience developed within our core workforce has allowed us to complete open cut sewer projects up to 45' deep and pipelines as large as 12' in diameter.

Meeting the challenge with a skilled and qualified workforce resulted in Kokosing receiving the Move Ohio Award from the Ohio Contractor's Association (OCA) in 2004 for the Scioto Main Sewer Rehabilitation Project and again in 2006 for the Bliss Run Relief Sewer Phase 2, both in Columbus, Ohio.  Kokosing's Utility Division was the first contractor in Ohio to complete a design-build utility project in 2007. In addition to traditional underground utility construction projects, much of our core workforce is typically busy supporting projects within the Heavy Highway and Heavy Industrial Divisions.

The advent of trenchless rehabilitation techniques in construction provided Kokosing the opportunity to expand into a new segment within the Utility construction market in 2001.  We are an active member of the CIPP Corporation, a separate licensing agent for cured-in-place pipe rehabilitation.  Kokosing personnel have developed the skill, experience and specialized equipment to rehabilitate pipe from 6” diameter up to 96” diameter.  We have the capability to perform pipeline rehabilitation using either water-cure or steam-cure methods.  This flexibility greatly enhances our ability to meet the unique needs of the project.

The diverse abilities within the Utility Division allow us to self perform nearly every aspect of underground utility construction applying both traditional and modern construction methods.  The growing need within the market to replace or repair an aging infrastructure places our Utility Division with the right tools to answer the call.
