NEWS Kokosing Helps Deliver Large-Scale Battery Manufacturing Facility in Southwest Ohio By Doug Flowers November 06, 2026 > Kokosing Helps Deliver Large-Scale Battery Manufacturing Facility in Southwest Ohio Kokosing, as part of a tri-venture construction management team, provided comprehensive construction management services for the delivery of a new 3 million-square-foot battery manufacturing facility in Southwest Ohio. This transformative project converted a 468-acre greenfield site into a world-class manufacturing campus featuring a 70-acre main production facility, multiple specialized support buildings, an electrical switchyard, extensive process utility systems, clean and dry room environments, underground infrastructure, roadways, and site improvements. The construction management team successfully executed this fast-track industrial megaproject through disciplined planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, logistics coordination, and stakeholder engagement. Early collaboration among the owner, design teams, trade partners, and equipment contractors established a highly integrated project environment that leveraged advanced scheduling methodologies, BIM/VDC technologies, and proactive risk mitigation strategies. Continuous communication, data-driven decision-making, and detailed workforce and site logistics planning enabled the team to maintain critical milestones while balancing safety, quality, productivity, and budget objectives throughout construction. A key factor in the project’s success was Kokosing’s vertically integrated delivery model. Working collaboratively across the Kokosing family of companies, the team self-performed: 2 million cubic yards of earthwork 15 miles of wet utility infrastructure 36,000 cubic yards of reinforced concrete 80,000 tons of asphalt paving 2.5 million tons of aggregate placement The value of this integration is evident throughout the site’s infrastructure, particularly in the paving operations. The Olen Corporation supplied aggregate materials that established the foundation for the pavement system. Kokosing Materials, Inc. developed a project-specific asphalt mix design tailored to the facility’s performance requirements. Teams from Kokosing Industrial and Kokosing Construction Company completed the grading, slope development, and paving activities, demonstrating seamless coordination across multiple business units. McGraw Kokosing played a critical role in the project’s electrical scope, serving on the construction management team and also self-performing a portion of the work. While already overseeing more than 500 electricians as part of the CM team, McGraw Kokosing was selected by the tri-venture to establish and operate a dedicated night-shift workforce focused on the project’s most critical electrical installations. The team’s performance generated additional opportunities, and at peak staffing, McGraw Kokosing deployed more than 100 electricians while continuing to lead electrical work within the main office complex, warehouse areas, and site-wide lighting systems. In total, McGraw Kokosing installed: 334 miles of cable 323,779 linear feet of conduit More than 8,700 lighting fixtures and associated appurtenances Through integrated construction management, self-perform expertise, and collaboration across its family of companies, Kokosing helped deliver one of the largest and most complex advanced manufacturing facilities in the Midwest, supporting the growth of domestic battery production and strengthening the region’s industrial infrastructure.
