NEWS Marine Services Underscore Kokosing’s Versatility By Doug Flowers April 22, 2026 > Marine Services Underscore Kokosing’s Versatility Kokosing is a full-service, self-performing Marine construction company with the special expertise and equipment to deliver innovative solutions quickly and efficiently for construction needs above, below or near the water. Kokosing’s Marine projects include: Elizabeth River Maintenance Dredging. Kokosing finished the Southern Branch of the Elizabeth River Maintenance Dredging this Fall for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The project included mechanical dredging of approximately 120,000 cubic yards, transporting the material to the designated disposal area at Craney Island and hydraulically unloading the material through 6,000 feet of pipe. Cable Installation Prep in Wisconsin. Kokosing had the opportunity to install high-density polyethylene approaches off the coast of northern Wisconsin for a future power cable installation. The approximately 13,000-foot power cable will supply power from the mainland in Bayfield to Madeline Island, which is the largest of the Apostle Islands. Benjamin Harris Bridge Reinforcement. In Hopewell, VA, Kokosing is demolishing the existing fender system around the Benjamin Harris Bridge and replacing it with fiber reinforced polymer piles and fendering that will enhance the bridge’s protection from ship collisions. Lake Erie Cable Installation. Kokosing completed the installation of a 3,800-foot medium-voltage power cable from South Bass Island to Middle Bass Island in Lake Erie. Replacing a cable from the 1960s, the new cable parallels the current primary power cable that Kokosing installed in 2008. These two cables will now share the power demand to Middle Bass Island.
