Water Resources East Water Treatment Plant

The East Water Treatment Plant was Phase I of a multi-phased Guaranteed Savings Contract for the City of Decatur. The new facility was constructed on a greenfield site which provided ample space for construction laydown and staging. Immediately after being selected as the Provider for this project, Kokosing began working diligently with the City’s Engineer, Midwestern Engineers, to come up with a building configuration that met the City’s budget. The collaborative effort between the Owner, Engineer, and Kokosing allowed the project to finish under budget and two months ahead of schedule.

The primary focus of this project was to construct a new water treatment plant for the City that would increase system capacity, reliability, and water quality. The design team focused efforts on designing a two-stage treatment system that would address unusually hard raw water quality. The Kokosing team worked with the City and Engineer to keep the design within the Owner’s budget, while maintaining focus on the City’s project goals and process needs.
