Transportation I-271 BRIDGE REPLACEMENT > Projects > I-271 Bridge Replacement INSIDE THE PROJECT The $33 million project involved the removal of I-271’s twin, 1,500-foot-long bridges that span the Cuyahoga River Valley in Summit County, Ohio, and constructing replacement nine-span steel girder bridges. The new bridges, which reach a height of 110 feet above the river, Riverview Road and Valley Railway, are constructed on cast-in-place substructures founded on piling. More than 14,000 cubic yards of concrete and 37,600 linear feet of piling comprise the bridges’ substructures. The bridges’ superstructures consist of stay-in-place metal deck forms and a cast-in-place deck, which is supported by 5 million pounds of 6-foot-tall steel-plate girders. Kokosing self-performed the project’s steel erection and construction of the substructure and superstructure. PROJECT DETAILS: Project Owner: Ohio Department of Transportation Location: Summit County, Ohio Project Value: $33,000,000 Delivery Method: Design-Bid-Build CAPABILITIES: Bridges Close
