Water Resources Lakewood Wastewater Treatment Plant Anaerobic Digester System Upgrades

The Owner desired to improve the total efficiency of its plant’s biogas production and usage. Kokosing was awarded the project which consisted of demolition of existing digester cover and boiler/heat exchangers. This then facilitated construction of a new energy recovery building, boilers, gas conditioning system, 100 kW CHP generator, new dual membrane 75-foot digester cover, digester mixing system, and heat exchangers, along new PLC and controls system.

This improvement capitalized on the energy return of digester gas, maximizing the efficiency of the facility by supplying heat to the hydronic system and electrical power for the plant.

Kokosing Industrial was the Design-Builder selected by the City of Lakewood to upgrade A 60- year-old anaerobic digestion facility requiring life-safety improvements – not limited to digester gas detection and electrical equipment upgrades – as well as delivering a more efficient heat-to- energy system for the facility.
