Water/Wastewater MAJOR WATER IMPROVEMENTS IN PITTSBURGH

Kokosing Industrial completed $101,000,000 water treatment plant upgrades across five locations for Pennsylvania American Water.

INSIDE THE PROJECT

Construction of a new, two-story 21,000-square-foot chemical building and installation of all process equipment, tankage, process piping, HVAC electrical, and instrumentation/controls. A new pump station was constructed that has four vertical turbine pumps and a discharge pipe was laid from the pump station to the Hays Mine treatment plant. The installation of two above-grade precast post-tensioned clearwell tanks was also part of the project. The total project spans over five different sites in the Greater Pittsburgh area.

WHY IT MATTERS

The corridors of all five sites were extremely tight and took a high level of coordination to sequence the construction. These projects all included large diameter buried piping, large volumes of cast-in-place concrete, extensive mechanical piping, and process equipment. Kokosing’s resources provided the power and expertise needed to complete this complex project.
