Heavy Civil Oshaugnessy Dam Spillway > Projects > Oshaugnessy Dam Spillway This project is located at the O’Shaughnessy Dam near the Village of Shawnee Hills in Delaware County, Ohio consists of both upstream and downstream dam work. Upstream work includes replacement of existing wood flashboard system across the length of the dam with similar design including nappe vents, installation of a full-length debris boom and removal of large areas of debris accumulated over multiple years. Work upstream was completed utilizing work boats and barges. Downstream dam work included removal of deteriorated stone in preparation for grouted stone erosion protection in multiple areas of the spillway as well as repair of leaking vertical construction joints. Over 4,000 cubic yards of stone was put into place with 1,600 cubic yards of grout, including Tremie methods placement. Initially constructed in 1925, and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, the O’Shaughnessy Dam functions as both a source of drinking water for the City of Columbus Division of Water, generates up to 5MW of electricity, and is of high public interest.
