  • 7.2 miles of controlled access tri-lane divided highway
  • 23 steel girder or precast concrete girder bridges
  • Bridge widenings highlighted by a 625’ deck-over structure, a “signature” arch bridge and a “gateway” bridge at the MD 97 interchange
  • Project traverses through Rock Creek Regional Park, protected wetlands and watersheds, specimen forests, streams and a wealth of cultural and socio-economic resources
  • The FEIS mandated unprecedented environmental designs and erosion and sediment controls
  • An environmental team and plans were established to include water-quality monitoring, thermal reductions to stormwater run off, reforestation, air-quality management, construction noise mitigation, spill prevention and storm water pollution countermeasures, rigorous review of design and construction for regulatory compliance and comprehensive employee training on environmental stewardship
  • Project also includes 2.5M CY earthwork; 400,000 SF sound walls; box culverts; CON/SPAN precast arches; fencing; guardrails; stormwater management and drainage systems
  • Concrete flatwork; extensive landscaping and roadside development; building demolition; 130,000 SF retaining and MSE walls; 630,000 SY HMA pavement
  • Lighting and signalization; signage; electronic toll collection facilities; intelligent transportation systems; utility relocations; traffic maintenance
  • Erosion and sediment control; design/construction quality control and community outreach support
