Inside the Project Kokosing was called in on an emergency repair to replace a worn outboard shaft bearing on the Basic Oxygen Furnace. A temporary frame and jacking system was installed to raise the 1,000 ton furnace in order to replace the bearing. Why it matters Emergency maintenance of the basic oxygen furnace was required to prevent further damage of the adjacent Bull Gear that would have resulted in excessive production downtime. Kokosing performed the replacement around the clock over a two week period to get our client back to full production.
